Ellie Jakes
Ellie Jakes is a composer currently living in Eugene, Oregon. She recently graduated with a M.M. in Jazz Studies from the University of Oregon, where she studied composition with Steve Owen and Paul Krueger, and electronic music with Akiko Hatakeyama. Ellie earned her Bachelor’s degree at Lawrence University, where she studied with Fred Sturm, Patty Darling, Jose Encarnacion, Mark Urness, Steve Peplin, and Nathan Wysock. She has performed with musicians such as Alan Ferber, Ben Wendel, Walter Smith III, Josh Nelson, Kendrick Scott, and others. She has had her compositions recorded and performed by the Oregon Jazz Ensemble, including at the Montreaux and Umbria jazz festivals.
